A Reason to Celebrate
We celebrated Christmas on Saturday, but it amazed me the lostness of the people who I am surrounded by. They know of Christmas because of a minority group in the area but they didn't know when it was celebrated or what was celebrated. The whole week leading up to the holiday I tried to share in my language lessons the holiday and what it is that is celebrated. We were blessed in sharing sometime the night before with other like minded people as well as spending Christmas breakfast at a friends house sharing the story of HIS birth from the book. After a sweet breakfast of German Apple Pancakes some singing and reading, we returned to our house to open presents. My mom has great timing in that we were able to open the presents she sent to all of us on Christmas Day. Thanks for all the hard work. We then had a Christmas dinner of Chicken Pot Pie, glazed carrots, and Mashed Potatoes! Shortly after we were finished with our dinner, my language helpers' family came to visit us, as that is the tradition for them to make visits on holidays. It was a great time. As they were leaving we were able to give them a film to watch which the next day our language helper said that she wanted to watch it with us so we made a point that after work we would go over and watch it with her. Last night we watched it with her and her sisters, about 1/3 of the way through it two of her brothers came and watched it and another 1/3 of the way through her mom and dad came home and watched it with us. I watched as there reactions came at the end of the film, one of the sisters said that J had a hard life which I told her yes because of our sin it had to be hard but you saw that he did not remain dead he arose from the grave. My language helpers reaction was pretty much the same with tears which is good, continue to ask DAD that conviction keeps happening. The other sister said that the film was so good she wanted to take it and watch it with her friends from school, ask DAD to continue in this business. The brothers immediately left the room and the mom and dad repeated some of their beliefs that are contrary to what was shown.
