The Return of a Son
Tonight I got to celebrate with a family that has opened up there home to us on many occasions as their son returned home! About three weeks ago this son collapsed and was rushed to the hospital where he was on breathing and feeding tubes and heavily sedated. After talking with the doctors and trying to find out what is wrong with him, the doctors basically gave up. The boy does have downs-syndrom and as such is looked down on from the doctors stand point as a waste of time and resources. When my friend was talking with the doctor, I got so angry because he said that boys like this one die by the age of 20 and here at 16. I thought then that this man has no regard for life, and everything in my bones called out to yell. It was a true miracle that his body healed while he was in the hospital. They did test his thyroid, and found out that it was not regulating one of his hormones but still did not want to do anything. He did do better day by day and was moved to another room and continued to got better as chest x-rays showed that he got TB, and a chest infection. But he was finally released from the hospital the other night and came home to a party, which although he did not squander all of his families wealth nor sleep with the pigs, it did remind me of the party that the father throws for his prodigal son. The Father does heal us, and even though we are left with the wounds, He throws for us a wonderful party that we get to enjoy. Through this boy I have seen just how I totally need to rely on the Father, as He is the one who healed this son and who is also healing me. Please continue lift this boy up, and ask that his family would come to know HIM through this and the words that have been shared with them. I call them the Shepherds.
