approaching the ajar door

Last week I quit my job at 24 Hour Fitness. God has amazingly provided me with it, while there I was able to minster to children, their parents and other 24hour patrons. It was great to get to know other people from around the Dallas area and see what they were struggling with and share with them truths. This, however was the first big step for the next week. After leaving 24hour, I got on an airplane and went to see my brother in Tennessee where he is doing an internship. I went for the primary reason of telling him goodbye and not to get married or die while I was away because I would not be able to attend his wedding or funeral. Selfish I know, but I love him and he has been a big part of my life and I want to be at those two events of his life when they happen. Needless to say the time I spent there was sweet, we did some hiking to the Chimney Tops, which is a 2 mile hike to the peak of a mountain in which the last 30 meters is slate rock which the weather has eroded creating footholds allowing beginners like myself easy access to the peaks. The views were amazing, and the breezes puffing up from the chimneys were cool, I even sat in one to cool off a little from the hike. The hike made for an excellent and exhausting afternoon. Yes, I did get to see the sights of Knoxville and the area in which my brother lives such as JBC, TVC, downtown Knoxville, Marysville, Alcoa, etc.

I come to today, where I have said goodbye to some of my 5th grade girls, whom Father has given me to teach these past 8 months. I don't deserve the honor of teaching them or sharing the good news with them, but by grace I have been given the ability and tools to teach them. I will continue to pray for them as I know that they are going to do likewise. I also said, "See you later." To a very dear friend of mine, whom the Father is doing amazing work in, she is going to start teaching in the fall, where I pray her dreams do come true. It has been with much prayer and petition that we asked for a job like this one to open up, and the Father has granted her the favor of this particular position. It was sweet to have her pray over me; I choke back the tears thinking about it. There is nothing more beautiful than the prayers of two or three which are intimate and in the depth.

I say all this knowing that there is more to come, especially and the week draws to a close. Next on the to do list unpack to repack.
