A Journey in These Shoes

Oh, the irony of it all.

We all know that I leave for training the 27th of July. Well as I was going through the mail on Saturday I came across an envelop addressed to me from the City of Carrollton. Not exactly sure of what it could be I opened it, and it was jury summons for the 27th. Laughing, I handed it to my mom, thinking there no way I am going. Since this is a holiday weekend, most places like the courts are closed, I am going there tomorrow to get it deferred in person with copies of my flight itineraries showing that I will be moving to Virginia.

On another note, since working at the gym I have met quite a few people who have been an encouragement in many ways. Whether they are offering words of encouragement by letting me know that they will pray for me, or telling me of places where they have been. Tonight I met a man whose son only speaks Arabic. I got to test my skills in my Semitic Languages. I got to tell him that I studied Hebrew for almost a year and Aramaic for a semester of college and was now venturing into Modern Hebrew and one more. Which lead me to tell him that I was going to teach English over in that part of the world.

Speaking of which, I have no clue what else I need to do in order to prepare myself for moving. Prayer is a given, however what else I need to do, I have no clue. I have asked my friends who have gone on similar trips (one year or four months) and they tell me I am doing alright, but when I am asked what do I need to do between when I leave and now I say there is nothing else I know to do.
